Job Description / Role / Responsibilities :

Background / General description:

Provides investment research and analysis for a global portfolio of marketable and private equities, fixed income, real assets, and absolute return strategies. Produces standard and

non-standard analysis and reporting to understand market trends, identify potential investment opportunities, monitor existing investments, and analyze various aspects of performance. The Investment Associate I takes guidance from management on requests for reporting, research, and projects.


  1. Essential Responsibilities


  • Reporting, Analysis, and Research
  • Independently produces standard and non-standard reports for division, senior executives and Trustees.
  • Troubleshoots routine and non-routine issues.
  • Utilizes industry software for standard and non-standard tasks.
  • May train and supervise other staff in report production.
  • Develops expertise in analytical tools for investment and provides technical support for other staff members.


  • Monitors External Investment Managers:
  • With management guidance, performs both routine and non-routine analysis.
  • Occasionally attends meetings and participates in conference calls, generally accompanied by senior team members.
  • Independently monitors receipts of required reports, processes capital contributions and transfers and verifies fees.


  • New Investments:
  • With supervision, performs well-defined quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Draft investment proposals with direction from Investment Manager, Investment Director, and/or Managing Director.
  • Occasionally attends meetings and participates in conference calls with potential external investment managers and is generally accompanied by senior staff members.
  • Performs assigned routine due diligence tasks.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related field or Chartered Financial Analyst designation
  • Minimum 2 years of working with institutional investments.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed and complex qualitative and quantitative analysis with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer and industry software skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Solid knowledge of statistical concepts.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial investments and investment management concepts.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with others in team environment and build relationships.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of good judgment and demonstrates professionalism.
  • Strong work ethic and professional standards.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in an institutional investment setting.
  • Working knowledge of investment portfolio analysis.
